At Woodside Osteopathic Clinic all our osteopaths are fully trained in Traditional taping and Kinesiology taping.
Taping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for prevention of further injury, inflammation and to reduce pain.
Taping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of neurological and circulatory systems.
Kinesio- taping is a method that is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a daily basis from morning till night. It is non-restrictive which allows for full range of motion whether this is at work, in the gym or during an important football or rugby match.
Traditional taping is used to support a joint and to limit its movement. This can be used for example in office workers with poor posture. The shoulders can be taped in the correct position to enable to body to get used to where the shoulder should be to avoid further injury.
Tape is used for anything from headaches to foot problems and almost every joint problem in between. Examples include: carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain (subluxations, herniated disc), knee injuries, shoulder conditions, hamstring, groin injury, pre and post surgical inflammation, rotator cuff injury, whiplash, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, patella tracking, muscular fascilitation, ankle sprains, athletic preventative injury and as a support method.
